HOW TO Add / Modify News / Articles:

This manual assumes that you are given the url http://www.iranlinked.com/user in which you have entered the login details provided to you by the site administrator / publishing manager.

ALL Editors: Please use Internet Mozilla-Firefox (version 2.0) or Internet Explorer (version 6.+ and hgher) web browsers when adding or editing ANY content. The best is to use one browser to add / modify and the other browser to view the created content.

All Editors: Please do NOT use tables in your contents, even from Microsoft Word.

Once you login, you will see a menu on the right-hand-side for English news / articles, and on the left-hand-side for Persian news / articles.

Make an appropriate selection whether you are adding news or article. For example. if you are adding an article, please click on Add Article / افزودن مقاله link. 

Once you click on the link , a web-form to enter the contents for the Article (or the News) will open like the image shown here. (click on the image to view in large format).

Enter appropriate text
Please wait till the web-form loads completely. To enter an article:
-Enter an appropriate title for the article at "Title: *" text box. Choose the language from the "Language" drop down menue (i.e. English or Persian). Leave the "Translation workflow" as None (i.e. please DO NOT enter any value). Plase choose the best category that describes your article from the drop down menu titled "Articles". Please note that you must choose at least 1 category from the drop down list. Leave the "Author" text box empty as well. Then enter 2-3 appropriate free tags in the "Free Tags" text box. These tags will act as free category in our system. Each free tag must be separated with a comma (, in English lagnuage / keyboard - not ، from Persian language / keyboard). Please note that the article you are posting can belong / appear in multiple categories. To have one article shown on multiple categories, please use the CTRL key on your keyboard and select as many categories that would describe the article you are posting to the system. Free tags are used as good / relevant search terms; relevant to the article, as well as adding a free category to our system. This will help viewers when they are searching for a particular article.

Using the rich text editor to enter your News/Article item

Our system has a rich text editor to enter articles / news clips. Format the content using the tools provided as shown on the image (click on the image to view in large format). When hovering (i.e. moving your mouse) over the buttons of the rich text editor, a text box will pop-up to provide a hint as what that particular icon would do. Please enter the body of the article as follows:

- Copying and pasting from WORD document:

If you are copying and pasting from a Microsoft Word document,& please click on  icon (shown in the image - click on the image to view in large format) and paste your copied section on the new window. If you are copying from a text file, or if you are just typing the article, please insert your entry on the main "Body" section.

- Adding an image to your article:

If you want to add an image or a picture to the body of your article, please click on Insert/Edit Image icon (as shown on the image on the right) and add your image/picture as follows:

* Clicking on the Insert / Edit Image icon will open "Image Properties -- Web Page Dialog" window as shown on this image.

*Then click on "Browse Server" button to open the browser window. To upload an image / picture from your desktop, please click on the "Browse" button to open another window to choose the picture you want to upload to the system. Once you chose the image / picture file, you have to click the "Upload" button to add the image / picture to the system. Once you chose the image, click on the "Open" button to bring you to browser window that was opened initially. Here you have to find the picture you just uploaded (remember it name?) Find the image and click on it to open it on the "image Properties -- Web Page Dialog window". please add number 5 to HSpace and VSpace boxed (i.e. to add 5-pixels to the picture for clarity), then click on the "Align" button to align the picture (to the right, left, or the center of the document), and then click OK. This will conclude inserting picture / image to the article. You can move the inserted image by dragging it and moving it to your desired place on the article (i.e. click on the image and hold the left-mouse-button and move the image ).

- Adding break point to your article:

If you want to add a larger section to article teaser on the main articles page, you must add the following HTML tag to the section of the article as shown in the image:

To add the above code to the article, please click on the "Source" button, copy the tag, and paste it after a </p> tag on the page where you want to have the page break as shown on the image. Please click on the image to view it in large format.

- Adding breaks to large articles:

If you have a large articles (more than one page to fit) and you want to break the article into multiple pages so that the viewers would not get tired reading them, please add the following HTML tag to the section of the article that you want to separate the article into( 2 or more) web page(s) as shown in the image:

To add the above code to the article, please click on the "Source" button, copy the tag, and paste it after a </p> tag on the page where you want to have the rest of the article shown on the next web page. Please refer to the above image to wsitch from Rich Text to Source Code View.

Check the input format

Please click on the input format link and make sure that the Full HTML radio button is set.

Add Meta tags for search engines

Please click on the Meta tags link and a short description, along with a few keywords to your article. This will help your article to be easily found on different search engines.

Review and Submit your artice

Please click on the preview button to review your article. To save your article to the system, please click on the Submit button.

Edit your submitted articel

To edit an article that is already submitted, please click on the Edit Content / ویرایش مطالب link and find the article you want to modify. This will bring a list of articles. Click on the edit button next to the article / news title you want to modify. This will bring up the form to edit. Follow this manual from "Using the rich text editor" section and modify the content. Once you are finished editing the content, click the submit button to Save. ** The changes will not be saved until you click on the submit button.

**Note You can only edit the posts that you have created. If you have access to articles submitted by other users, please notify the administrator / publishing manager of the system.

Please do not modify other entries such as URL Path Settings, Menu Settings, File Attachments, Authoring Information, and Publishing Options
